According to US Department of Commerce (USDOC) data, the US exported around 34,000 tons of hot-rolled steel bars in June of this year, a 20 percent decrease from the previous month and a 24 percent decrease from the same month a year ago.
Exports to Mexico accounted for the majority of them, totaling almost 21,000 tons, a 10.4 percent reduction month on month and a 13.2 percent decrease year on year. Canada came in second with approximately 11,300 tons, and exports to other countries were minimal.
The export value was over US$60 million during the time, down 11.3 percent month on month and 21.1 percent year on year.
